Irfan Mustafa Clementswood Lib Dem leader is supporting the campaign to stop Tony Blair's expensive plans for Identity Cards. Read this story and much more in Irfan's FOCUS newsletter. Liberal Democrats are leading the campaign to stop Tony Blair's expensive plans for Identity Cards. The cards could cost £10 billion and will be a huge waste of money and we will each be charged more than £80 to have one! "The Liberal Democrats are the only major party to have consistently opposed ID cards" says Irfan Mustafa Clementswood Lib Dem leader, 'Winston Churchill scrapped them, Margaret Thatcher was always against them, but the current lot of Tories shilly-shally". "Back in 1995 even Tony Blair said the money would be better spent on more police than ID cards!" Here in Redbridge the 9 strong Lib Dem group of councillors is backing the all-party campaign "No2IDcards". They have tabled a motion for next full meeting of Redbridge Council on Nov 16th opposing ID cards. The Lib Dem councillors want Redbridge Council to declare its opposition the ID cards and refuse to have anything to do with them unless required to do so by law. Related Link:
