On being selected as candidate for London Assembly, Councillor Islam said that he would work hard for the whole constituency. He said " For the last eight years, the Mayor Ken Livingston has only given priority to inner London boroughs. The Mayor and the local Assembly Member have neglected outer London boroughs. I would make sure that the benefits of organising Olympic 2012 and London Development Authority should be equally distributed to all London boroughs including employment and regeneration."

In his manifesto Councillor Farrukh Islam has put priorities for improvement in local transport, visible policing, affordable housing, protecting green spaces and local services such as hospitals and post offices.

Councillor Farrukh Islam said " Havering & Redbridge residents are fed up with the Mayor who just work for inner London boroughs and Local Assembly member who has failed to deliver for the last eight years. They want a change and he is committed to bring that change to improve local services for local residents."

Councillor Farrukh Islam is a Liberal Democrat Councillor in Redbridge. He is also Liberal Democrats spokesperson for Olympic & Leisure. Councillor Farrukh Islam is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He has been involved in the community service for the last 27 years.
